The magic of Port d’Andratx

Properties with spectacular sea views, a seafront promenade that makes your heart sing with its boutiques, small shops and excitingly varied selection of cafés and restaurants, and a beautiful marina in a sheltered position – this is Port d’Andratx. Not only is it one of the most beautiful natural harbours on the Majorcan coast, it is also the most exclusive residential neighbourhood in the whole of Majorca. It’s just tailor-made for making your Mediterranean dreams come true with a home of your own in the Med. By day, the water sparkles in a seductive shade of blue; in the evenings, it transforms into a twinkling sea of lights. Moreover, this former fishing village is nestled into a landscape of gentle rolling hills that are actually the foothills of the Tramuntana mountain range

Mediterranean way of life

Living in Port d’Andratx, also called Puerto de Andratx, in the south-west of Majorca means enjoying the sunny side of life to the full. Unlike many other coastal villages in Majorca, Port d’Andratx is not a seaside resort. Having said that, there is no lack of swimming options because you have little bays such as Cala Fonoll. The beaches of Sant Elm and Camp de Mar are also nearby. Besides, in Camp de Mar, golfers will find excellent facilities for playing on the 18-hole course at Golf de Andratx.

Freshly caught fish – straight off the boat

The prime location of Port d’Andratx – about five kilometres from Andratx – has attracted international residents. Here, you may well encounter celebrities and prominent figures from the worlds of politics and business as well as the film, TV and fashion industries, just strolling along by the sea. Without a doubt, this is also because Port d’Andratx, along with all of its casual elegance, has at the same time managed to preserve something of its charming village character. In the U-shaped bay, sleek sports yachts from the “Club de Vela” meet fishing boats returning after a hard day at sea. And when the trawlers from the fishing fleet come in, you know that the fresh seafood specialities are not far off. The catch of the day is sold to the surrounding restaurants as well as in the indoor fish market right by the harbour. You can’t get fresher than that! And when you then see the blue and green nets laid out on the pier, if not before, the maritime atmosphere is absolutely perfect!

Little village, great art

Port d’Andratx is simply an exceptional corner of the world. In addition to the magnificent villas you see positioned on the surrounding slopes, there is another real eye-catcher of a building by a world-famous, top architect. It is the studio and exhibition building of the late American artist Barbara Weil from the US (1933-2018). The house, which is specifically coordinated with her gaily-coloured, primarily expressionist paintings and sculptures, was created by none other than Daniel Libeskind – working with the artist herself.

Creative synergy of kindred spirits

“The Guardian” described the building as “a fascinating example of creative synergy between two artists, who…had shared something like a common approach to visual form”. So this is great architecture in a little village, and it’s one of the very few private houses that Daniel Libeskind has ever designed. It is a real cultural highlight of the island. You can visit Studio Weil on Camino San Carlos by prior appointment.

The harbour entrance in Port d’Andratx is bounded by the impressive Cape of Sa Mola with its white lighthouse. This is a great place to enjoy the sunset and also the bird’s-eye view of Port d’Andratx and the “dragon island”, Dragonera.

Superb infrastructure

In a nutshell, Port d’Andratx is an extremely special location and it has excellent infrastructure. Importantly, the Palma-Andratx motorway allows you to reach the Majorcan capital and Son Sant Joan Airport rapidly and provides Port d’Andratx with perfect transport connections.
