Family resort Palmanova
Palmanova and its trio of beaches… this resort in the municipality of Calvià in the south-west of Majorca features three large playas: Es Carregador, Palmanova and Son Maties. And it has long seafront promenades for strolling. Palmanova or Palma Nova is a popular holiday destination as a seaside resort. Hence, there is an abundance of hotels and other holiday accommodation. Families with children are particularly well catered for in Palmanova. The fine-sand beaches shelve gently into shallow water and there are lifeguards to ensure the safety of bathers.
Wide range of water sports
The variety of water sports available will satisfy any appetite you have for adventure and discovery, because there’s a whole array of possibilities: parasailing, waterskiing, standup paddleboarding, kayaking, etcetera… If you feel like something more leisurely, you could explore the scenery from the water in a pedal boat. Or you could hop aboard one of the glass-bottom boats that take passengers on round trips from Palmanova to Magaluf and back, to give one example. If you like, there’s also the opportunity to go sailing. And if you want to moor your own boat in Palmanova that’s not a problem. By the beach Es Carregador, you’ll find the Club Nàutic Palmanova marina, which has about 80 moorings.
Live where others spend holidays
Palmanova…a Balearic Islands holiday resort that’s also a great choice as a place to live. Because when you’re staying on the sunshine island, why should you always have to look for holiday accommodation – when you could make a home here with your own Majorcan property? The dream of living under the Mediterranean sun has already been made a reality by many international residents – who own chic apartments, stylish villas or wonderful fincas in and around Palmanova. The international schools in nearby Portals Nous and in the Majorcan capital Palma de Mallorca, just 14 kilometres away, leave no stone unturned to provide your kids with a good education and prepare them for life.
Shops and restaurants
You have a considerable range of shopping options in this locality of almost 7,000 inhabitants. Being by the beach, obviously there are many souvenir shops open in summer. Alongside those, you’ll find everything you need for carefree time at the beach, from sun cream to inflatable animals. But you also have local perfumeries, newsagents, boutiques, shoe shops and supermarkets. Meanwhile, a range of bars and restaurants provide sustenance and your creature comforts. Many of them are right by the seafront promenades. If you feel like international cuisine, you can treat yourself to Thai, Italian or Indian food – the tables are all laid, ready and waiting for you. Then there are the South American steakhouses and Spanish fish restaurants. And you can also get fast food.
Twice the golf
The inventively designed minigolf facility called Golf Fantasia, close to the beach, provides great amusement for kids – and indeed for all ages. This park with a tropical theme offers three different courses just waiting for you to play them. It’s great fun for the whole family! For “real” golfers, there are actually several 18-hole courses close at hand…Santa Ponça, Bendinat and the T Golf & Country Club.
Jet-set hang-out or party hotspot
The neighbours of Palmanova could not be more different. On one side you have the glamorous jet-setters’ harbour of Puerto Portals, and on the other the bustling tourist hotspot of Magaluf, where night is turned into day. So you can always just choose whichever you please – depending on your mood and your wallet – and then come back again to cosy Palmanova.
