Green ambience in the Med – Sol de Mallorca

Majorcan sun! Could there be a more beautiful name for a Mediterranean coastal resort? Sol de Mallorca. You’ll find it in the south-west of Majorca, in the municipality of Calvià, between Cala Vinyes and Portals Vells. Small, well-kept, peaceful, surrounded by pine forests and bordering on a sea of sapphire blue. It’s a world away from the hectic rush. Unwinding and enjoying the excellent quality of life beneath the southern sun is what it’s all about here. This is a residential area par excellence with around 670 inhabitants – only about 20 kilometres from the Balearic capital city of Palma de Mallorca.

Magical beach

Right on the doorstep, you have what is known as the “three-finger bay”, with the three beaches Playa del Rey, Playa Portals Vells and Playa del Mago. The bay guarantees you a variety of different bathing experiences with little rocky coves. Playa del Mago, meaning the magician’s beach, is both the smallest and the most famous beach of the trio. The film “El Mago” was shot here in 1968, directed by Oscar winner Guy Green and starring the iconic actors Anthony Quinn, Michael Caine and Candice Bergen.

Sun, fresh fish and chilled cocktails

That’s not the whole story on the topic of beaches, though, because there’s also the other, north-eastern side. Get ready for some glorious bathing – in places like Cala Cap Falcó. The beach bar here is a great spot too…to relax with your feet in the sand after basking in the sun, enjoying fresh fish and the bar’s own ice-cold cocktails, like their passion fruit mojito

Sought-after location for property

With its green ambience by the sea, Sol de Mallorca as a property location is much sought-after by the international set. Whether it’s a luxury villa with a pool or a chic apartment, whether it’s for a single person, a couple or a family, your dream of having your own island home can become the most glorious reality in Sol de Mallorca. Perhaps even a Majorcan property with a sea view?

Well connected

The infrastructure here is perfect. You’ll find that there’s a well-stocked supermarket locally. In case the mood strikes you for some extra glamour and luxury, you have the exclusive marinas Port Adriano and Puerto Portals nearby; Palmanova and Santa Ponça, with their many diverse options for shopping, are close at hand too. Magaluf, with its party district, Katmandu adventure park,Western Water Park and exclusive beach club, Nikki Beach, is also in the surrounding area. International schools in Portals Nous and Palma are on hand to look after the education of your children. And you even have a golf course next door at the T Golf & Country Club – in case you want to spend the day on the green instead of sunbathing and swimming.

Cave exploration

If you like excursions, you may want to check out the nearby Coves Mare de Déu, which means caves of the Mother of God. Centuries ago, they removed the very typical Majorcan marés sandstone from here for the construction of city palaces and the impressive cathedral in Palma de Mallorca. And legend has it that the Coves Mare de Déu once offered much-needed shelter to Italian seafarers following a storm.
