From canoeing to kitesurfing
In the neighbourhood, you have the little church of Sant Antonio de la Playa with a forecourt where there’s a small weekly market. Then of course, you have a beautiful, wide beach, good parking facilities, a marina for yachts, and a range of water sports available – what a pleasure! Anything goes…canoeing, waterskiing, windsurfing, stand up paddleboarding, etcetera. Even kitesurfing – perfect for anyone who needs an extra kick of adrenalin using the waves as ski jumps to perform heart-stopping leaps in the air. Somehow, the daring kiters manage not to get tangled up in the steering and brake lines as long as 30 metres that are fixed to the canopy, but that’s their secret.
Water, and more water!
Children are also well catered for. In addition to the beach, making sandcastles and all the fun they can have there, there’s plenty more on offer. For starters, one of the big water parks on the island is quite close. Aqualand El Arenal features streamlined water slides with fast bends, leisurely raft rides plus paddling pools for the little ones to romp around in – and for the parents, relaxing into the bubbles of the whirlpool is just perfect. Then of course, you also have the Palma Aquarium marine park, which is a real experience.
Eye to eye with sharks
Visitors can go on a journey through the world’s oceans, looking at seahorses, squid, rays, groupers, sharks and much more. At Palma Aquarium, you can see more than 8,000 creatures of 700 different species. The Big Blue is an enormous tank nearly nine metres deep with 3.5 million litres of salt water, and spectators can watch divers feeding the inhabitants including the sharks. In special pools, you can touch sea creatures such as starfish with your hands to experience what they feel like.
In a nutshell, Can Pastilla is ideal for families. It’s also a great location to buy a property, not least because of its excellent infrastructure.
If you feel like going out, you have everything on your doorstep. You can dine in one of the restaurants in Can Pastilla, have a drink in the chic Beachclub Purobeach or throw yourself right into the Playa de Palma nightlife. It’s an easy walk to the party area.
